General FAQ:
* Is it Free to join?: Yes.
* Who can join?: As long as
you agree that you understand what a full model release is you are welcome to join in the
fun and networking for jobs. Photographers, models, hair &
make-up, stylists, theatrical talent, real people, seniors, parents,
families & image buyers. We trust the honor of your word
but it is important that you understand releases. Our community
depends on your availability as a model for stock assignments
and releases are necessary for that. You may decline any job
or offer! We don't act as your agent. But if we find that you're
really not available for stock photo jobs we'll remove your profile
& part ways with no hard feelings.
* What is a "Stock Model"?
You don't have to be a *model* ! Photographers shooting model
released stock imagery are looking for all kinds of people including
grandparents, families, vertically challenged people, character
faces, dancers, comedians, clowns, doctors, bus drivers, and
all kinds of sizes, colors and styles in between. Models too!
But regular people who will sign a release and can make themselves
reliably available for photo shoots are needed too. That's you!
* Is Stockmodels.com moderated?:
Yes, we want a civil, happy environment and will monitor and,
at our discretion, even remove profiles for various abuses. We
will also screen for adult porn content but photos posted still
may include nudity, partial nudity, lingerie & fetish images.
There will be adult topics in discussions as well. It is not
a place for kids.
* What is Ning?: Ning is the
software running the community. Do a web search, lots of info
there.
Photographers:
* Can I cast a non-stock job
using Stockmodels.com?: Of course!
* Posting images: Apparently
metadata is stripped upon upload. That's not good but don't let
that stop you from posting images with watermarks. Save in Photoshop
level 5 and keep your images on the small side (our opinion,
you do as you like). You can also create hot links to your site
or to a specific image on your server in the description field
of any photo you upload. Use the © copyright symbol everywhere
for your protection. We take no responsibility for the use of
images posted to the stockmodels.com community! Please ask if
you need help making links.
* Tog Tip: Please use your
complete city and state or country names like "Los Angeles,
California" and NOT CA or NV etc. This will help when models
are searching for you. Correct spelling is critical for successful
searches too!
Models:
* Do I sign a release to join?:
No. By joining you are just agreeing that you know what a full
release is and that you are open to signing one. You are saying
that you consider yourself a person who, under the right circumstances,
would sign a full release for stock photography shoots.
* Are Photographers Screened?:
No. Not at this time. We make no claim to provide any info on
experience, credibility or references. We suggest you do your
own research on anyone who contacts you. We advocate the buddy
system when meeting anyone in person. Bring a friend! If the
photographer asks that you come alone, we suggest you pass &
ignore.
* Are these paying jobs?:
We suggest that you be paid for your time. The signing of a full
release has a value to the photographer. Perhaps you are interested
in getting portfolio work done in trade and the resulting photos
have a value to you. If that kind of trade is fine for you, that's
great! All we suggest is that your deal is written on paper,
signed by both you and the photographer and that you get a copy.
All negotiations are up to you. At this time we are not acting
as your agent or your advisor. Use the forums and other sources
for more info.
* Model Tip: Please use your
